If you haven’t figured it out by now, I have an obsession for all things kawaii. Growing up in a Japanese household trained me to gravitate to anything cute which continues on to this day. And what’s better than sticking a bunch of cute things I like together?
During my most recent Japan trip, I stopped into the Tamagotchi department store in Harajuku which threw me into an ocean of nostalgia. If you grew up in the 90’s, I’m sure you remember the Tamagotchi craze: cute little egg-shaped electronic pets. We were so obsessed with keeping them alive they were banned from our classrooms. They disappeared for a while after they went out of style (I still have my original one, though) and recently they made a big comeback.
Among all the cute merch, I found a packet of Tamagotchi marshmallows. They are insanely cute and I knew I had to do something fun with it. I’ve also been obsessed with Pocky for as long as I could remember so it was a no-brainer to make some sweet dessert skewers with everything!
As far as a recipe, there isn’t one per se. Just grab some marshmallows, cut up some fruit, and skewer them onto Pocky sticks! One pro tip: poke holes in the marshmallows with a chopstick to make it easier to poke the Pocky through it since Pocky are pretty fragile.
Have fun making something delicious AND cute!
